California’s vote-by-mail initiative was launched in 2021 after a new law was established in Sacramento. It provided that a ballot will be routinely sent to every currently registered voter.
It might be fantastic if everyone who could vote did so. New information, however, indicates that the test led to rejection. Based on the California Secretary of State’s official post-election information, over 226,000 mail ballots in the 2022 elections have been disqualified by election authorities.
The most common reason votes were disregarded was that they were received too late. That shouldn’t be shocking considering that the post office is famous for its delayed delivery. An aspirational target of a 94% success rate for on-time delivery was set by the chief inspector of the USPS.
