Bob Lee, the founder of mobile payment service provider Cash App, was tragically stabbed to death in the Rincon Hill neighborhood of San Francisco on April 4.

The suspect, Nima Momeni, was recently taken into custody and booked on one charge of murder. In an exclusive report, it was revealed that Momeni was previously cited by police for misdemeanor battery in August 2022.
According to documents obtained in a public records request, police in Emeryville, California, cited and released Momeni on suspicion of battery after a woman reported that he attacked her at his loft. The woman, who has not been identified, called police around 3:11 p.m. on August 1, 2022, and said that Momeni “grabbed her arm & pulled it, pushed her physically.”
The police officers waited with the victim as she arranged transportation with her belongings and eventually gave her a ride instead
The Alameda County District Attorney’s office confirmed that they did not file charges against Momeni for the incident but declined to provide further details. CNN has requested the documents related to the case and has reached out to both the Emeryville Police Department and Momeni’s attorney for comment.
Cash App, which was co-founded by Bob Lee in 2013, has become a widely-used mobile payment service that allows users to send and receive money instantly. Following Lee’s death, the company released a statement expressing their shock and sadness at the loss of their founder. The investigation into Bob Lee’s murder is ongoing.
