The Boston police have found the bodies of Kiryl Schukin and Pavel Vekshin in a storage unit in Boston’s Brighton neighborhood.
Dead Bodies of Missing Couple Found in a Storage
The missing couple had been reported by their friends and coworkers on April 9 after not being seen since March 30. According to the Medford Police and the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office, both men had apparent stab wounds, with Schukin’s body dismembered and Vekshin’s in a rubber storage bin.
The investigation into the couple’s disappearance and death led to the arrest of 37-year-old Leonid Volkov. Volkov knew both Schukin and Vekshin and had rented the storage unit using one of their names. Volkov and Schukin had an altercation after Schukin declined to co-sign for Volkov’s lease extension, which caused him to be evicted from his apartment, according to a report in TRUE CRIME DAILY.
The investigation revealed that Volkov and Schukin met up on March 29 in a rented U-Haul. Volkov could reportedly be seen going in and out of Schukin and Vekshin’s apartment building around the time they went missing. Investigators located the U-Haul van at the storage facility, according to the statement.
Suspect Charged With One Count of Murder, Additional Charges to Follow
In a published article in NBC Boston, Volkov has been charged with one count of murder, but authorities expect additional charges to follow. The investigation is ongoing, with the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office and the Medford Police Department leading the investigation. District Attorney Marian Ryan announced in a press conference that they are still trying to determine the motive behind the murders.
The couple was originally from Belarus, and Schukin was a software engineer at a Massachusetts tech company. Vekshin worked as a customer support specialist. Their coworkers and friends are devastated by the news of their deaths. The company where Schukin worked issued a statement expressing their condolences to the family and friends of the couple and said that they would provide support to their employees during this difficult time.
