How To Enable The ‘Find My’ App On Your AirPods?

Find My is the only way to track down or find a missing or lost device. There is no other Apple service that can help you find, track, or mark your device in any other way.

Set up Find My on the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch you use with your AirPods so you can find them. You should update to the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, or macOS before you try to find your AirPods.

You can also use iCloud.com to find your AirPods. With some models of AirPods, the web experience may be different, and some features may not be available.

You can’t use Find My to find your AirPods if you didn’t turn it on before you lost them.

Use a Map to Find Your AirPods

If you’ve lost or misplaced your AirPods, you might be able to find them by using the Find My app on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac that’s signed in with the same Apple ID. With the second generation of AirPods Pro, you can also find your charging case on a map if it gets separated from your AirPods.

Use the Find My App To Find Your AirPods

1. Start the app Find My.
2. Choose the tab called Devices.
3. You can pick your AirPods. You can see a location or “No location found” under each device.

Find My Network Must Be Turned On

If you turn on the Find My network, you might be able to see where your AirPods (3rd generation), AirPods Pro, AirPods Pro (2nd generation), or AirPods Max are even if your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn’t connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network.

1. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, open the Settings app.
2. Select your name, then select Find My.
3. Select Find My [device], then turn on Find My [device].

Make your AirPods Play a Sound

If your AirPods are nearby and connected to Bluetooth on one of your Apple devices, you can play a sound to help you find them. You can also play a sound with AirPods Pro (2nd generation) to help you find your charging case.

1. Open the Find My app.
2. Select the Devices tab.
3. Choose your AirPods from the list.
4. Tap Play Sound to play a sound that gets louder gradually.

Get a Message if You Forget Your AirPods

If you have an iPhone 12 or later, you can set up separation alerts to make sure you don’t leave your AirPods (3rd generation), AirPods Pro, AirPods Pro (2nd generation), or AirPods Max somewhere you don’t know.

1. Open the Find My app.
2. Go to the Devices tab, and choose your AirPods.
3. Under Notifications, tap Notify When Left Behind.
4. Turn on Notify When Left Behind.

Switch Your AirPods to “Lost Mode”

When you turn on Lost Mode for your AirPods (3rd generation), AirPods Pro, AirPods Pro (2nd generation), or AirPods Max, you can share a message with your phone number or email address. If someone finds your AirPods, the message will show up on their iPhone.

Put Lost Mode on:

1. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, open the Find My app.
2. Go to the Devices tab, and choose your AirPods.
3. Scroll down to Mark as Lost, and select Activate.
4. Follow the onscreen steps if you want your contact information to display for your missing AirPods.
5. Select Activate.

If Your AirPods are Not Online

If your AirPods are out of range or need to be charged, you might see their last known location, “No location found,” or “Offline.”

You can’t play a sound to find them, but you might be able to find out how to get to the last place they were connected. If they do come back online, your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac will let you know.
