Controversy
Comedy Cars Gets Coffee is a web series that Seinfeld created and hosts (2012–2019). He is married to novelist and philanthropist Jessica Seinfeld, with whom he has three children.
To date, Seinfeld has been nominated for twenty Primetime Emmy Awards for his work on Seinfeld and Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, in addition to four Grammy Award nods for his comedy albums.
Jerry Seinfeld, an actor, writer, and comedian, launched his successful sitcom “Seinfeld” in 1989. The show is set in New York City and chronicles the lives of a group of friends who, on the surface, appear to be like every other adult in America, just trying to do the best they can.
Underneath the pleasant premise, however, is a jumble of troubles as the characters take ordinary circumstances and blow them out of proportion, often spending entire episodes on concerns as small as not having soup when they want it.
With the brilliant minds behind “Seinfeld,” including comedians like Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Michael Richards, and Jason Alexander, the show struck comedic gold from the very first season, remains a piece of pop culture history, and is possibly one of the only television series in which the cast unanimously decided the show was done.
Fans of the series have had mixed feelings about the series’ over-the-top protagonists for many years. Even then, there is one aspect of the characters that has viewers up in arms.
How Horrible Are the Seinfeld Characters?
Redditor u/418156 opened the digital floor up to discussion when they inquired, “Are the people in ‘Seinfeld’ really that bad?” They then established a case that they are not, stating, “Most of the horrific things they do are the results of mistakes and misconceptions.
For the most part, they are TRYING to do the right thing and failing (like us all).” The series finale of “Seinfeld” may be worse than any typical misunderstanding, but many episodes focus on the characters making mayhem in their lives and the lives of others over everyday discomfort.
Insightful Reddit user u/CasualSpider chimed in with, “Apart from Kramer, I find them to be really superficial people. The type who, you know, would gossip about you behind your back.”
The discourse surrounding the major characters of “Seinfeld” isn’t new, and it isn’t going away any time soon. Ravi Shankar tweeted a poll asking “Seinfeld” viewers to choose which main character they found “the most unethical.” George Costanza (Jason Alexander) triumphed with 63% of the vote.
Luckily for George, Alexander saw this and defended his former on-screen persona on Twitter, writing, “Oh my, this hurts a little. More immoral than Newman, really?” Jerry’s antagonistic next-door neighbour, Newman (Wayne Knight), is always at the centre of trouble or some sort of plan.
Even though it ended in 1998, the show’s sarcastic character has kept viewers coming back for more and drawing in new viewers for the first time. Whether you believe the characters are wicked, misunderstood, or just like everyone else, there are belly laughs to be had in every episode.

Just Another Contentious Pairing
After Jerry Seinfeld and his considerably younger girlfriend broke up, it was going to be hard for him to find another relationship that would be as scandalous.
Thankfully, the media stopped covering Jerry and his new girlfriend/future wife as much when they started going out. However, that doesn’t imply that Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld’s relationship didn’t start on a problematic note.
Jessica had recently returned from a three-week honeymoon when Jerry Seinfeld met her. Jessica divorced her previous husband soon after their wedding in order to be with Jerry.
In the years since Jessica has maintained that her previous marriage was “irreparably broken” when she met Jerry and she had already begun the split process.
While Jessica’s ex-husband had a very different perspective on the event, saying that he was “manipulated, misled, and completely caught off guard by Jessica’s infidelity,” this was not how he saw it at all.
Jerry and Jessica have been married for over twenty years, and they have three children together. This is true regardless of the specifics of how they met.
