“Morgan Cole Wallen” is an American country music singer-songwriter who was born on May 13th, 1993 in Fort Worth, Texas. Tommy and Lesli Wallen welcomed their first child, Morgan, into the world on May 13, 1993, in Sneedville, Tennesse. Throughout his childhood, Wallen studied the piano and violin. After suffering an elbow injury, he decided to study music instead of baseball in college.

Career

He took part in The Voice season six as a member of Usher’s team at first, but he eventually switched to Adam Levine’s squad. In 2015, he signed with Panacea Records and released his debut EP, Stand Alone, after being ousted from the playoffs. Big Loud Records signed Wallen in 2016, and his debut album, If I Know Me, was released in 2018.

It features the hits “Up Down,” “Whiskey Glasses,” and “Chasin’ You,” all of which feature Florida Georgia Line. It topped the Billboard Top Country Albums chart with If I Know Me. The second album Dangerous: The Double Album, was released in January 2021 and became the first country record to spend its first seven weeks at the top of Billboard’s 200-album chart in 64 years. This was the first album to hold that position for a full 10 weeks since Whitney Houston’s Whitney in 1987. Seven Summers,” “More Than My Hometown,” and “Wasted on You” were all Billboard No. 1 singles.

Controversy

Morgan Wallen won the award for Top Country Male Artist at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night (May 15). Even though he had been barred from the 2021 Billboard Music Awards for his use of a racist epithet last year, Wallen never acknowledged it during the show.

A few songs from Dangerous: The Double Album and his new single “Don’t Thank Jesus” were sung by Wallen during the show. The final tune is about turning to Christianity in the wake of remorseful, alcoholic behavior because Jesus forgives when others do not. Those latter several years, but especially, I believe, tell much about my ten-year story. In many ways, that song sums up a lot of what I’ve been through and how I’ve addressed those experiences. That’s why I hope that’s conveyed,” he said on the red carpet before the show.

As Pusha T handed him the trophy, Wallen said a few words of gratitude to the people

Who helped him win the award for Top Country Male Artist:

Man, I’d like to thank God and my fans, because they are the best darn fans I’ve ever had. As a thank you to my mother for being my date for the evening. Without you, I’d be nowhere. You guys are awesome for having me. I owe a debt of gratitude to everyone on my team. Thank you to my loved ones, friends, and especially my son, who never ceases to inspire me. Thank you for your service, and may God continue to bless you.

Following the release of a video of Wallen using a racist and anti-Black insult, the 2021 Billboard Music Awards have barred the country artist from attending or performing. Three prizes were still given to him at the 2021 BMAs using Billboard chart data. Following his use of racist language, Wallen was suspended indefinitely by his label Big Loud Records, briefly removed from country radio, and removed from consideration for the 2021 Country Music Association Awards and the 2021 American Music Association Awards.
