A suggestion that Jamie Spears bugged Britney Spears’ bedroom while acting as her conservator has been refuted.
The claim, which was made in the Hulu and FX documentary The New York Times Presents: Controlling Britney Spears, is addressed by Jamie in a sworn declaration filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday and obtained by PEOPLE. Jamie states, “I’ve been made aware of Britney’s attorney’s claim that a bug was put in her bedroom as part of the conservatorship’s surveillance system. This claim is untrue.”
And he said, “In any situation, not even while Britney was under conservatorship, I never carried out or approved any kind of monitoring in her room. No such surveillance has, as far as I know, taken place.”
In response to PEOPLE’s request for comment regarding the most recent court records, Mathew Rosengart, Britney’s lawyer, did not immediately react.
What does Black Box claim in the documentary?
An ex-employee of the security company Jamie had employed, Black Box, claimed in the documentary that the company had monitored Britney’s communications. This included text messages, phone calls, and voicemails on the singer’s cell phone, as well as audio recordings of conversations between the singer, her now-husband Sam Asghari, her sons, and her attorneys made in her bedroom, the former employee claimed. The documentary was released days before Jamie was suspended as conservator of Britney’s estate in late September
The digital trail was allegedly copied onto an iPad, encrypted, and emailed to Jamie, 69, and Robin Greenhill of Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group, who was Britney’s manager and personal assistant at the time, according to the former employee Alex Vlasov. Both Greenhill and Vlasov’s supervisor, Edan Yemini, the founder of Black Box, have previously refuted the accusations.
The idea of keeping an eye on Ms. Spears’ electronic communications

The pop star’s 13-year conservatorship finally came to an end on November 12
The conservatorship of the individual and the estate is no longer necessary, the court finds and decides, Judge Penny declared in court. Therefore, “the conservatorship of the person and estate of Britney Jean Spears… is hereby dissolved effective today.”
Britney married Asghari and bought a new house in the intervening months. At the upcoming hearing, both parties would prefer the other to take a deposition, but neither party seems willing to do so. On July 13, there will be another court appearance.
